Terms of service
These terms cover the websites, hosting and SEO plans we sell. They’re written in plain English. If your written quote or agreement says something different, the quote or agreement wins.
1. Who we are
ShortlistedSEO is a trading name of Livelihood Ventures Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17496152), registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. Contact us at hello@shortlistedseo.co.uk.
We sell to businesses. By ordering, you confirm you’re buying for your business, not as a private consumer.
2. Quotes and what’s included
- Before any work starts, we send you a written quote with a fixed price and exactly what’s included: the number of pages, the features and the rounds of changes.
- Work outside the quote, such as extra pages or features, is quoted separately before we do it. Extra pages are £60 each unless your quote says otherwise.
- Prices are as shown on our website and in your quote. We are not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added.
3. Paying for a website
- Starter and Pro websites: 50% when you accept the quote, and 50% before the website goes live.
- Monthly website: paid monthly in advance by card, for a minimum of 12 months. After that it continues month to month until you cancel.
- Hosting and care (£15 a month for Starter and Pro websites) and SEO plans are paid monthly in advance by card.
- Founding prices apply to the first clients only, while places last, and are locked in for as long as you stay a client on that plan.
4. What we need from you
- Your services, prices, areas, accreditations, photos and any other details we ask for, within a reasonable time. Timescales depend on getting these.
- You confirm that what you give us is accurate and that you have the right to use it, including photos, logos and reviews, and that any accreditations or registration numbers are genuinely yours.
- You’re responsible for the claims your business makes. We write the words, but you check and approve them before launch.
5. Timescales and changes
- We usually send a first draft about two weeks after we have your details, but this is an estimate, not a guarantee.
- Your quote says how many rounds of changes are included (Starter: two, Pro: three). Further changes before launch are charged at the extra page rate or as quoted.
- If we don’t hear from you for 30 days while waiting for details or approval, we may treat the project as paused. We’ll let you know before doing so.
6. Who owns the website
- Starter and Pro: once you’ve paid in full, the website’s design, words and your domain are yours. You can host it anywhere.
- Monthly website: we own and license it to you while you’re paying. After the 12-month minimum, if you’ve paid in full, we hand over the website and the domain, whether you stay with us or not.
- Your logo, photos and business content are always yours.
- We keep the right to reuse our own general code, tools and know-how, and to show your website in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.
- Domains we register for you are registered in your business’s name where possible. If we register one in ours, we transfer it to you when you’re entitled to it.
7. Hosting and care
- Hosting and care covers hosting, security updates, backups and small changes (up to about 30 minutes a month).
- We aim to keep your website online all the time but can’t promise it will never be unavailable, for example during our hosting provider’s maintenance.
- You can cancel hosting and care with 30 days’ notice. We’ll help you move the website elsewhere.
8. SEO plans and the free AI check
- Get Found and Grow have a minimum of 12 months when our monthly website is included, or 3 months when we work on a website you already own. After that they continue month to month.
- We don’t guarantee rankings or AI recommendations. Nobody controls what Google or AI tools show. We guarantee to do the work described in your plan and to report on it every month.
- Our 90-day promise: if your agreed measures (such as how often AI names you, reviews gained, and calls and clicks from your Google profile) haven’t improved after 90 days on Get Found or Grow, your next month is free. This only applies if you’ve given us the access and details we asked for.
- You give us manager access to your Google Business Profile and listings. You can remove it at any time. We never need your passwords.
- The free AI check shows what AI tools said at the time we asked. Their answers vary, so treat it as a snapshot, not a promise.
9. One business per trade per town
While you’re an active client on a monthly website or SEO plan, we won’t take on a competing business in the same trade and the main town named in your quote. This doesn’t cover one-off work, and it ends if your plan ends.
10. Late payment
- If a payment is more than 14 days late, we’ll remind you. If it’s still unpaid 14 days after that, we may pause hosting or work until it’s paid.
- We may also claim interest and costs on late payments as UK law allows for business-to-business payments.
11. Cancelling
- Starter and Pro: you can cancel before launch. You pay for the work done up to that point, and the first 50% covers this unless you’ve cancelled very early, in which case we’ll refund what we haven’t used.
- Monthly website and SEO plans: after the minimum term, cancel any time with 30 days’ notice. If you cancel during the minimum term, the remaining months up to the minimum are still payable.
- We can end an agreement if you seriously break these terms, for example by not paying, or by asking us to publish fake reviews or misleading claims.
12. Liability
- We do our work with reasonable care and skill. If something we’ve done is wrong, tell us and we’ll fix it.
- We’re not responsible for indirect losses such as lost profits, lost jobs or lost data, or for things outside our control, such as changes by Google, AI providers, hosting companies or other third parties.
- Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you’ve paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
13. Your data
How we use personal data is covered in our privacy policy. Where we handle your customers’ data for you, for example enquiries through your website’s quote form, we do so only on your instructions and keep it secure.
14. Changes and law
- We may update these terms. Changes don’t affect work already quoted or plans you’ve already started unless you agree.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute. We’d always rather sort things out by talking first.
